In order to speed up any COVID-19 updates, I am requesting 1 cell phone number per family and/or 1 email address per family so that the facility may send updates via text or email which will enable us to get the information to you ASAP as opposed to sending via USPS which takes a few days. Please send the cell number or email address to me at: ypolatoff@onondagacenter.net and I will add the information to the distribution lists.

For any Residents who have only received their first COVID 19 vaccine dose:
Walgreens 3rd and final Vaccine Dose Clinic – 2/18/21.
Walgreens’ protocol is to have separate consent forms signed for both doses. Residents cannot receive the second dose if they do not have the second consent signed and returned to Onondaga Center. The fastest and easiest way to return a signed consent or declination is to scan it to: vaccine@onondagacenter.net

The third and final vaccine clinic will be held on 2/18/21. Please send these signed forms in ASAP so that we may provide Walgreens with the correct number of vaccines.

Protecting our patients, residents and staff from COVID-19

From the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, our facility has followed the guidelines and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). The safety of our residents, patients, staff and their families are our priority and we continue to take an abundance of precaution to protect them.

Our team is well-trained in the importance of proper handwashing and the use of alcohol-based sanitizer, and all are supplied with proper PPE. If they experience symptoms—such as fever or cough—they are instructed to stay home, and they must be cleared before returning to work.

Handwashing and hygiene posters are displayed throughout our facilities, and employee education and training continue based on the latest community and CDC guidelines. In addition, the COVID-19 vaccine is currently being administered throughout the Centers Health Care facilities to staff and residents alike.

For the latest news about visitation and more, please contact our facility.

Centers Health Care celebrates 25 years of experience, innovation and leadership

25 years of improving lives
25 years of compassionate care
25 years of making a difference

Experience matters and we have it.

We’re proud to be part of Centers Health Care, one of the leading post-acute care organizations in the country.

This year, Centers Health Care is celebrating 25 years of monumental care.

As the leading post-acute healthcare network in the Northeast, Centers’ experience is unmatched, our knowledge unparalleled. We bring more accumulated expertise to the residents and patients we serve than any other post-acute provider in the country, touching more than half a million lives and achieving more than 20,000 successful rehabilitations every year.

Our remarkable insights and ground-breaking achievements over the past quarter-century are exemplary.  We have developed programs that have put our company in the top 5% nationwide for successful rehabilitations such as our specialized care units, ranging from a cardiac care unit that has been certified by the American Heart Association to vent and dialysis care.

We have developed unprecedented outreach to the communities we serve—creating units dedicated to community cultures. Centers has, in short, transformed post-acute healthcare…and that’s just the beginning.

We celebrate as we look back at our successes and look forward to our continuing triumphs.

“Over the last quarter-century,” CEO Kenny Rozenberg says, “we have gained the kind of powerful experience in post-acute healthcare that is unmatched in the industry. I am proud and honored to celebrate the 25th anniversary—and look forward to moving ahead, as we write new chapters in the story of Centers Health Care, leading the way for the next 25 years.”

Onondaga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing on CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan

News that COVID-19 vaccines are expected to get emergency approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is welcome news that we have been anticipating for nearly a year now. With that, information is starting to come out on when high-risk groups like skilled nursing facility patients—along with the general public—can expect to receive the vaccine.

Onondaga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing has a look at the recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that states aren’t required to follow, but it’s expected that most (if not all) will

When Will the First Doses Be Given?

Vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna may begin distribution by the end of the year. Their vaccines will require one shot and then a booster two to three weeks later that hope to provide immunity within a month of the initial shot. People from these groups are expected to begin the vaccination process prior to the calendar changing to 2021.

Long-Term Care Facility Residents and Healthcare Workers First

Around three million people nationwide live in long-term care facilities like Onondaga Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. It’s expected that this group will be among the first to receive the vaccines, as many have paired with large pharmacy chains like Walgreens and CVS to do so.

There are also 21 million workers in the healthcare industry, but there’s expected to be only 22.5 million doses available by the end of the calendar year, so some in that group will have to wait. That’s also assuming that everyone will want the vaccine, as no company or entity can mandate that someone receive it.

Who Will Be Next After These Groups?

Adults older than 65 and those with a high-risk for complications from COVID-19 are expected to be in the next group. Experts believe that these should be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year.

General Population Availability

As long as the vaccines that are expected to be approved do make it through, experts believe that enough vaccine will be available for anyone who wants one by the spring. It’s believed that everyone who wants to be vaccinated will be by June.
